In a shocking incident, at least 2 employees of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) reportedly died after a gas leak at the plant. The employees died at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where they were undergoing treatment following the leakage of toxic gas in the Coal Chemical Department of the plant.
As per preliminary reports, at least 10 employees of the plant fell sick after the gas leak in the plant today. Among them, 4 employees were critical and were shifted to the Ispat General Hospital, after they complained difficulty in breathing.
However, 2 employees among those admitted to the hospital lost their lives while undergoing treatment. The other 2 employees are reported to be still critical.
According to sources, the Fire Department reached the spot and efforts are underway to control the leak. Moreover, the area has been sealed to safeguard the public from the leak.
The cause of the gas leak is yet to be ascertained.
