In an interview where he supports and compliments the Supreme Court for its “progressive” decision permitting women to have permanent commissions in all 10 non-combat units of the army and also to aspire to command positions in these units at par with men, former Army Chief Gen. V. P. Malik also makes it absolutely clear that for the foreseeable future women must not be admitted to the army’s combat units.
