Maruti Chairman on What the Auto Sector Needs to Ride the Slowdown I Karan Thapar

In an Interview to Karan Thapar, R.C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti, says if the auto sector is to grow at 12% and if manufacturing is to become 25% of GDP the government must think carefully about the safety and pollution standards required of the auto industry and also reconsider GST rates. Bhargava sees the recent corporate tax cut as the first of more bold moves yet to come. He gives details of how Maruti sales suffered and what Maruti did in response, reveals why he's optimistic about festival season sales and explains why he supports demonetisation. R.C. Bhargava also told Thapar why he doesn't believe hire and fire labour laws are necessary. According to him, industrialists must avoid obscene salaries and the onus is on them and not the government to ensure economic growth and development.
