22 dead after consuming spurious liquor in Aligarh

Twenty two people died and many were hospitalized in Aligarh district after they allegedly consumed spurious liquor sold by a licensed vendor, a senior official said. Many of those seriously ill in the hospital have reported going blind. The district magistrate in Aligarh, Chandra Bhushan Singh, and Deputy Inspector General of police Deepak Kumar visited villages Karsua and Andla, where the maximum number of deaths had been reported. Kumar also announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for information on two accused in the case, Rishi Sharma and Vipin Yadav.
