German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced on Thursday that Covid-19 vaccines will be available to children over the age of 12 beginning June 7.
She also stressed that vaccination would not be compulsory and would have no bearing on whether children can attend a school or go on holiday.
Meanwhile, the European Medicines Agency is expected to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid vaccine for children aged 12 to 15 on Friday.
