A balloon is essentially a nylon bag filled with hot air, which is made by burning liquid propane in a steel burner. If more heat is applied the balloon rises, with less heat the balloon descends.
They carry fuel to stay flying for a few hours, generally less than 600 meters high, and they need a safe place to land. To descend, you must wait for the air to cool down or open a valve located at the top, which releases the hot air.
There are also other aerostats that are made of helium or hydrogen and can be suspended for several days. Do not forget that the balloons move in the direction of the wind.
To inflate the balloon you have to go through two processes. First, the balloon is spread on the ground and cold air is blown into it with a large fan.
Then, with a propane burner, hot air is blown into the partially inflated envelope. The hot air straightens the balloon, which will remain tied to the ground until the pilot is ready for takeoff.
