Galapagos women, the invisible force behind farming and fishing

The Galapagos Islands are famous for their unique fauna and flora, but their agriculture and artisanal fishing are less recognised sectors where the work of women is essential and often undervalued. "There are many women working in the fields but it's men who are seen at the forefront," says coffee farmer Maria Elena Guerra in the mountains of Santa Cruz, one of the four inhabited islands of this Pacific archipelago, 1,000 kilometres off the coast of Ecuador.
