Terming Covid-19 as a "shared problem" and a "global crisis", External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said, "What you describe as aid, we call friendship....For me, I have one objective, my people are going through a very difficult phase in this second wave of Covid-19, as a foreign minister, I will do everything to help my people."

West Bengal was in the throes of widespread violence on Monday that allegedly left several BJP workers dead and injured in clashes, and shops being looted, prompting the Centre to seek a factual report from the state government on the incidents of attack on opposition workers. The BJP has announced a nationwide dharna on May 5 against the alleged post-election violence by Trinamool Congress workers in Bengal.
