Jago Vansivaare Lalana: Sri Krishna Bhajan: Sung by Swami Sarvagananda Ji

This is a beautiful composition by the great devotee of Bhakti movement, Mira Bai. The song is meant to be sung in morning to wake up little Sri Krishna. The song has the phrase, "Giridhar Naagar" which literally refers Sri Krishna who once held the great mountain Govardhan to save the people of Vrindavan from a devastating flood. It is composed in ancient Avadhi language.

★Translation:

Awake, oh little one with the flute (Little Sri Krishna), awake my dear,
The night has passed, dawn is breaking and shutters are opening in every home
We can hear the gopis churning yoghurt as their bangles jingle
(Awake my dear).

Do wake my dear, it is dawn, Gods and men are at their the doors
The young cowherds are joyously cheering
(Awake my dear).

With bread and butter in their hands, these protectors of cows
Oh Meera’s Lord who held the mountain up, the protector of the one who comes to His Sharan (refuge)
(Do wake up, my dear).
