Calls For Medical Oxygen Grow Louder As Hospitals Run Out of Supply Across Country

In the wake of a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases, hospitals across India are experiencing an acute shortage of oxygen supply. Several high-burden states across India are reeling under the shortage of oxygen as demand rises due to spike in infections. The shortfall in oxygen threatens the lives of critically-ill patients in need of oxygen support.
Amid the news of shortage, a Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister along with his supporters reportedly held up a tanker transporting medical oxygen from Gujarat’s Jamnagar to Indore to make a media spectacle even as the patients gasped for breath in the hospitals.
