na shoKHi shoKH hai itni na purkar itni purkari
na jaane log teri sadgi ko kya samajhte hain
bhula din ek muddat ki jafaen us ne ye kah kar
tujhe apna samajhte the tujhe apna samajhte hain
'firaq' is gardish-e-ayyam se kab kaam nikla hai
sahar hone ko bhi hum raat kaT jaana samajhte hain

نہ شوخی شوخ ہے اتنی نہ پرکار اتنی پرکاری
نہ جانے لوگ تیری سادگی کو کیا سمجھتے ہیں
بھلا دیں ایک مدت کی جفائیں اس نے یہ کہہ کر
تجھے اپنا سمجھتے تھے تجھے اپنا سمجھتے ہیں
فراقؔ اس گردش ایام سے کب کام نکلا ہے
سحر ہونے کو بھی ہم رات کٹ جانا سمجھتے ہیں
