Bengal polls: India Today brings you the history of Chhitmahal | Ground Report

Chhitmahals were the enclaves along the Bangladesh–India border where people lived without a nation, in several enclaves of either country (land parcels located across the border). However, things changed after the historic land boundary agreement between India and Bangladesh in 2015.

After the signing of agreement, both the countries offered the these enclave dwellers a choice of returning to their homeland or stay back wherever they are. India Today visited this region, which comes under West Bengal, and spoke to the locals as they are going to exercise their franchise in this assembly polls. For more, watch the ground report.
