Hello again! Time is flying by, and it’s exciting to see our plants growing. Now that they are a little bigger and more resilient and we’ve really hit our stride for a pattern, things have been quiet and much more relaxed giving us more time to focus on other things like our Instagram, other videos, and getting ready for our summer garden.

We did a how-to for soil composition testing, check it out: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7zukeh

A few interesting notes about our plants this week:

1. We have some plants that are really significantly lagging behind, these are all in the “soil” test group. It’s very surprising that our lunar simulant (LHS) pots are outperforming the soil samples so strongly.

2. We’ve also noticed that our LHS pots have roots surfacing, indicating that either they’re “floating” to the surface or that, as the LHS continues to compact, the roots aren’t following. The only saving grace for our LHS plants might be the compost addition, otherwise they may not have been able to penetrate the very dense LHS substrate in any meaningful way.

3. Can you notice the difference in color between the soil and LHS test pots? It isn’t an optical illusion, these are really very different colors!

I found some old lenses I had misplaced for the camera. One is a pink (“FLD”) lens and the other is a polarized (“CPL”) lens. Do you think these make the shots of the plants in the growtent a little easier to look at? I thought the CPL made it look better, but please let me know what you think.

Last, we’re looking into the future – what other experiments would you be interested in us running? We are looking at where we can expand and do more interesting and exciting projects to share with you. Please comment below if you have any thoughts!

If you want to name one of the plants, leave a comment below and we’ll assign it to one! If you’d like to name a specific plant AND get an adoption certificate, check out our Buy Me a Coffee page: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/rainbird/e/21798
