The government forces on Tuesday carried out searches around the Sonawar area after a Jammu resident was shot outside a famous eatery in Srinagar city.
The road barricades were placed around several places in Srinagar city and the vehicles were searched by the forces.
According to police, at around 7: 35 pm they received information about the gunfire at Krishna Dhaba area of Dalgate Srinagar where militants had fired upon a civilian.
They identified the person who received gunshot wounds as Akash Mehra son of Ramesh Kumar Mehra resident of Janipora Jammu.
“He has received gunshot injuries in this incident and was evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on,” it said.
