IIT Kanpur develops unmanned drone-helicopter
  • 3 years ago
IIT Kanpur's Aeronautics Department in collaboration with a start-up have developed an unmanned drone-helicopter. This drone-helicopter can be used for long-endurance surveillance and vaccine distribution. With the capacity to carry weight up to 5kg, it can cover a distance of 50km. As the weight reduces, the distance can be increased to 100km. Drone-helicopter can fly up to 11,500 feet but the long-range trails are to be held soon. Department of Aerospace Engineering’s Professor Abhishek said, "It operates on petrol and can go working for straight 3-4 hours. It can be used for vaccine distribution in far-flung areas."
