Coronavirus Update-Dr Anthony Fauci worries Thanksgiving may be the start of a dark holiday season. Thanksgiving may be the beginning of a dark holiday season, indicated by Dr. Anthony Fauci, as the rise in coronavirus cases is likely to continue through December, January and February, or even get worse.
If the surge continues to go up and you have more than 100,000 infections a day and 1,300 deaths a day and the count continues to go up and up... During the Christmas and New Year holidays, I don't see it being any different than during Thanksgiving,” he said last week in an interview with USA TODAY.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said the nation is in a vulnerable position going into the holiday season because infections are too high as they occur to manage spikes, as he is sure they would in the winter months.
Fauci said this year he's more likely to cancel Christmas plans as he did for Thanksgiving. He decided to submit his love to Zoom and enjoy a peaceful dinner with his wife instead of receiving his three daughters this year who live in different parts of the country.
