In Seoul Monday morning, it got down to minus 1-point-5 degress Celsius, the coldest it's been so far this fall.
Forecasters say winter this year in Korea is going to be colder than it was last year.
Kim Jae-hee has the details.
South Korea saw an icy cold start to the new week on Monday, with Seoul's morning low falling to minus 1-point-5 degrees Celsius, the city's lowest temperature so far this season.
Cold wave advisories were issued in many parts of the country during the day.
The Korea Meteorological Administration says the mornings are going to be unusually cold through Wednesday.
"With the inflow of cold air, many regions woke up to low morning temperatures on Monday, with Seoul seeing the low drop to minus 1-point-5 degrees Celsius. Low morning temperatures will continue throughout Wednesday, due to the cold air remaining and temperatures dropping at night."
The weather agency also says winter this year in South Korea is going to be colder than it was last year.
"This winter is expected to be colder than last winter, with large fluctuations in temperature. December is expected to be similar to or below the 1981-to-2010 average. January and February are likely to be similar to the average, but there will be times when the temperature drops sharply."
The weather agency added that this winter could have many dry days as well.
Precipitation is expected to be similar to the average in December and February, but January could bring less.
It says there could be heavy snowfall in Gangwon-do Province, on the west coast and on Jeju Island.
