Energy-saving smart ‘liquid’ windows from Singapore found to reduce consumption by 45 per cent

Scientists at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have developed a “liquid” window that they say can reduce a building’s energy consumption by as much as 45 per cent. The double-glazed panes, filled with a micro-hydrogel and water solution, cut infrared and ultraviolet energy from sunlight, as well as store and release solar heat. Those features allow the windows to reduce the energy needed for heating and air conditioning a structure.
