Dr. VIJAY SHANKAR is a well known and popular Ophthamologist having conducted Thousands of eye surgeries. Dr. Vijay Shankar became an eye surgeon to fullfill his father's long cherished dream of becoming a successful eye practioner.
Dr. Vijay Shankar has completed his MS in Ophthalmology from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He has done his fellow ship and has been trained under various sub specialities in Ophthamology at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. Dr. Vijay Shankar and the team of specialists at shankar Eye care handle various specialities i.e. Phacoemulsification with foldable lens implantation, Glaucoma Surgeries, Oculoplasty , Retina and laser refractive surgeries. He also carries out his father's philanthropic activities.
Unlike sons of his contemporaries who chose to become actors, Jaishankar’s son, Vijay Shankar, is an eye surgeon. Dr. Vijay said that his father wanted to be a surgeon but could not and hence he chose to be one. Although he got plenty of offers to act he declined all of them because his profession. Dr.Vijay Shankar received the Best Doctor Award from Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical University for the Year 2012.
He is married to Dr. Deepika who is a trained Classical Dancer and Senior Consultant ENT Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
