World Maritime Day 2019: Theme, Significance And Celebrations Of The Day On Its 71st Anniversary

World Maritime Day is celebrated every year on September 26. The day is celebrated to create awareness about the contribution of the international maritime industry towards the world’s economy, especially shipping. 2019 marks the 71st annual World Maritime Day celebration by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The theme for this year’s World Maritime Day is “Empowering Women in the maritime community”. On World Maritime Day, multiple events are held along with the main celebration at IMO's London headquarters.
