JNU Violence: Mumbai Police Forcibly Removes Protesters From Gateway Of India

Protesters gathered at Gateway of India’s iconic monument since the night of January 5th as news came of violence on JNU’s campus in New Delhi. Protesters have continued their vigil at Mumbai’s historic landmark and the numbers have swelled over the past 24 hours. Mumbai Police has now forcibly removed these protesters after the roads around the area were blocked and movement of traffic became restricted. According to a tweet by ANI, Sangramsingh Nishandar, DCP (Zone 1) said roads were getting blocked and people were facing inconvenience. "Common Mumbaikar and tourists were facing problems. We had appealed to protesters many times,have now relocated them to Azad Maidan", Nishandar said.
