The families of servicemen who pass away due to reasons other than combat duties face social stigma and financial burden, so Colonel Shankar, also known as the Forrest Gump of his batch, made it his life mission to reach out to the next of kin and take care of them as part of the Armed Forces fraternity. His intervention through the non profit he runs singlehandedly has brightened many forgotten lives.
