Heavy Rains In Delhi Leads To Flooding, Submerged Homes, Damaged Cars; IMD Predicts More Showers

Heavy rain in Delhi and neighbouring Ghaziabad and Noida led to a dip in temperature, bringing relief to residents from the sultry weather. Due to heavy rainfall overnight, the temperature came down to 27 degrees. Though people woke up to a pleasant day, they faced harsh reality of the poor state of civic infrastructure yet again as the heavy rain left many areas in and around Delhi flooded. The downpour left parts of Delhi & Gurgaon flooded, leading to long traffic jam in several areas. Key stretches of major roads in the city were flooded, news agency PTI reported. A total of seven parked cars were damaged after a section of a school’s boundary wall collapsed in south Delhi’s Saket area allegedly due to heavy rains that lashed Delhi-NCR. Several low-lying areas were reported to be submerged in waist-deep water. People shared videos of their houses submerged in water. Reportedly, as per IMD, the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas are likely to get more rainfall till August 23.
