With the biggest-ever jump of 9,887 new cases in the past 24 hours—the COVID-19 tally in India reached 2,36,657 on Saturday. The country has now overtaken Italy, which has recorded 2,34,531 cases until now.The surge comes amid the first phase of unlock after a two-month total shutdown. According to WHO expert Michael Ryan, the doubling time of the coronavirus cases in India is about three weeks at this stage. However, Ryan, who is WHO's Health Emergencies Programme Executive Director, said the disease has not "exploded" in India, but the risk of that happening remains as the country moves towards unlocking its lockdown. #Corona #Covid19
