Formation of Honduras: Varela, Matamoros, Dick, Welsh, Bulnes, Mendoza, Marshall, Rosales (Mejia), Gómez, Cardona (Lagos) and Bran.
Reference: El Salvador and Honduras became the first countries in the history of the world to have broken their diplomatic relations as a result of a soccer match. The day came (June 27, 1969), Mon Martínez scored at minute 10 and "Chula" Gómez from Honduras tied at 27 with a goal from the Chilean half, which entered after hitting the post; two minutes later, once again, Mon Martínez scored the second goal. The second half, at 7 minutes, once again "Chula" Gómez tied the game in a "melle", there was a need for extra time and at minute 11 of the third period "Pipo" Rodríguez in a sweep drives the ball to goal, to despite Dick's desperate effort to reach the ball, without success.
