Around 100,000 Belarusian protesters took to the streets of Minsk on Sunday demanding President Alexander Lukashenko to step down.

This was the latest in a series of protest against him after he claimed a landslide victory in an election on August 9 which his opponents say was rigged.

Moscow has offered him support by saying it would send paratroopers to Belarus for "Slavic Brotherhood" joint drills.
