South Korea's human rights watchdog has recommended that the foreign ministry improve certain "shortcomings" revealed in its handling of the diplomat sexual abuse case.
The National Human Rights Commission gave a nonbinding recommendation on Wednesday...for the ministry to create a concrete investigation procedure manual for sexual harassment cases.
It also calls for the diplomat to pay the victim a certain amount in compensation.
A former local employee at the South Korean Embassy in Wellington accused a Korean diplomat of groping him on three occasions in 2017. The case then resurfaced after New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern raised the issue with President Moon Jae-in earlier this year.
