The 8.8-km strategic Rohtang Tunnel, being built at 3,000 metre above sea level between Himachal Pradesh’s Manali and Leh in Ladakh, will be opened by September-end. The Rs 3,200-crore tunnel will shorten the 474-km distance between Manali and Leh by 46km, which means the eight-hour journey will be cut by two-and-a-half hours.
देश की सुरक्षा और विकास के लिए भारत ने एक और मिसाल कायम कर दी है. मनाली से लेह के बीच 10 हजार फीट की उचाई पर स्थित दुनिया की सबसे लंबी रोड टनल बनकर तैयार हो गई है. ये टनल करीब 8.8 किलोमीटर लंबी है. साथ ही 10 मीटर चौ़ड़ी है. इसे बनाने में करीब दस साल लग गए. लेकिन अब इससे लद्दाख सालभर पूरी तरह से जुड़ा रहेगा. साथ ही इसकी वजह से मनाली से लेह के बीच करीब 46 किलोमीटर की दूरी कम हो गई है.
