The race for the White House is heating up.
The Republican National Convention will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, for most of this week.
Key political figures from the GOP and the President's family will speak during the event.
This comes as a secret recording of President Trump's sister criticizing her brother has been leaked to the Washington Post.
Jang Tae-hyun reports.
The Republican National Convention will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina this week.
It will run for four days from Monday to Thursday, local time.
A handful of Republican leaders will be present in-person on the first day,... but most of the convention will be virtual due to COVID-19.
A maximum of 336 delegates will convene in Charlotte on Monday, conduct the roll-call vote and officially re-nominate President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees.
The theme is "Honoring the Great American Story," which will feature remarks from Republican figures and even some Democrats.
President Trump's family are also slated to speak, including his daughters and sons as well as First Lady Melania Trump who immigrated from Slovenia and rarely talks about her personal life.
Meanwhile, a secret audio file of President Trump's sister slamming her brother has been leaked to the press.
The Washington Post obtained the audio of her criticizing Trump for being cruel and even making a friend take his SATs to get into college.
"All he wants to do is appeal to his base, he has no principles. None, none. Change of stories, a lack of preparation, the lying..."
The release comes on the heels of the Democratic National Convention when several Democratic politicians focused on character and morality.
They presented President Trump as a person unfit to serve America while claiming Joe Biden who accepted the Democratic nomination last Thursday is a worthy candidate for president.
