Islamic State group attack on Afghanistan prison leaves at least 29 dead

At least 29 people have been killed and more than 50 injured in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group,... on a prison in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.
The attack reportedly began on Sunday evening and continued through the night into Monday morning, lasting around 20 hours.
Car bombs detonated at the prison's entrance, and gunfire could be heard in residential areas nearby.
Among the 29 dead were prisoners as well as civilians, prison guards, and Afghan security personnel.
According to a local government spokesman cited by Reuters, more than one thousand out of near 18-hundred prisoners, tried to escape but were recaptured.
About 300 prisoners are believed to be still be on the run.
