Netflix’s latest reality show Indian Matchmaking is going viral for all the right (wrong) reasons. Indian Matchmaking has every single thing good about Bad TV. We love to hate-watch it, but the problem is not that. The problem is that somewhere deep down, we also know this is exactly who we are as people. This show is immensely watchable, but trash nevertheless. All those women who have had their bodies paraded in this marriage marketplace, will tell you so. All those women who need to take up the ladle instead of the racquet to be a sansakri Indian lady will tell you so. All those women who have been in bad arranged marriages will tell you so. All those men who said yes to marriages because of parental pressure will tell you so (hello, Akshay). This is all very negative, very stubborn, very strong-headed behavior. Sorry, Sima Aunty.
