WHO downplays 'hypothesis' linking salmon to Beijing’s latest coronavirus outbreak
  • 4 years ago
Chinese state-run media reported on June 12, 2020, that the coronavirus was found on chopping boards used by a seller of imported salmon at Beijing’s Xinfadi wholesale food market, where a new cluster of more than 100 Covid-19 cases is thought to have originated. But on June 15, World Health Organisation officials said the suggestion that the latest outbreak was caused by the importing or packaging of salmon was only a "hypothesis" that needs to be explored.
