Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that it was thanks to the philosophy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay that the BJP's predecessor party, the Jana Sangh, went quickly from being a mere opposition party in the country to a serious alternative for it, against the ruling Congress.
