The Asian giant hornet has appeared in the United States, putting the country on alert.
The New York Times and UPI reported this week that the Department of Agriculture confirmed the species were first spotted last autumn in northwestern Washington state.
Experts are worried the Asian giant hornet, known to be the largest of its kind in the world, could ravage the native bee species.
However, The Hill reported that the environmental impact of the hornet on the local ecosystem has yet to be confirmed... and they only sting when their nest is disturbed.
