Beijing’s Forbidden City reopened on May 1, 2020, after it was closed for three months by a lockdown to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus that causes Covid-19. The opening of the historical site in the capital is part of China’s efforts to slowly lift  restrictions on movement after the number of new Covid-19 cases continues to fall across the country.
