While the global coronavirus infections neared 2.5 million and Covid-19 killed nearly 170,000 people, the Director General of the World Health Organisation warned on April 20, 2020 that “the worst is yet ahead of us”. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus renewed the agency’s warning about the continued severity of the Covid-19 pandemic just as many countries started to ease up on social-distancing measures.
