শান্তিনিকেতন থেকে অনতিদূরে বনদপ্তরের জমিতে প্রায় একুশ বছর আগে কয়েকজন গ্রামবাসীরা নিজেদের উদ‍্যোগে আয়ের বিকল্প পথ বেছে নিতে শনিবারের দিন এখানে নানারকম হস্তশিল্প নিয়ে বসা শুরু করেন। খোয়াইয়ের বন আর সোনাঝুরি গাছে পরিবেশে এই হাটের নাম হয়ে যায় "সোনাঝুরি-খোয়াই হাট"। আগে হাটবার ছিল শনিবার। কিন্তু বর্তমানে পর্যটকদের আগ্রহ এবং আকর্ষণ হিসেবে সোনাঝুরির হাট যথেষ্ট সমৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে।

Sonajhuri Hat, also known as Khoai Hat is allocated in Khoai, a shorting distance from main Bolpur town. Almost 21 years ago, this Mela is inaugurated. Now it's being an eye-catching place for tourists. It helps to carry out the rural tradition of Bengal.
