Philippine drug war: Filipino mothers join nighttime patrols to prevent drug killings
  • 4 years ago
A group of 18 mothers are doing regular nighttime patrols through the streets and alleyways of the municipality of Pateros in the Philippine capital Manila. The volunteers are trying to maintain peace in their community amid the “war on drugs” started by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Since the crackdown started in 2016, dozens of people, including three people related to patrol group members, have been shot dead in Pateros alone.
