Singer Lucy Dhegrae lost her voice in 2013, just as her career was taking off. Diagnosed with paresis of the vocal folds, a form of paralysis, she traced the condition to a traumatic night a decade earlier, when she says she was drugged and raped as a first-year student at the University of Michigan. Developing her "Processing Series" of concerts at the National Sawdust arts institution in New York, she explores music's ability to help with the process of healing.
