Turning point for India? Modi's citizenship act excludes Muslims
  • 4 years ago
Is it the beginning of the end of India as a secular state? The week began with protesters rallying at New Delhi's India Gate as anger spread to college campuses over last week's passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, a law decried as anti-Muslim by demonstrators while the Hindu nationalist BJP government insists it's "pro-refugee". Protests against the new bill have been particularly virulent in northeastern Assam state.
