The world's first hybrid cruise ship, the Roald Amundsen, was named by its Norwegian operator Hurtigruten after a pioneering Norwegian-born polar explorer. It is at the vanguard of a new generation of environmentally conscious ocean-going vessels. The industry traditionally has a bad reputation for polluting, waste generation and carbon emissions.
