In celebration of its 125th anniversary, the 'Billboard' charts team ranked its top artists. The list was compiled by using a formula that incorporated the 'Billboard' Hot 100 songs chart and the 'Billboard' 200 albums chart. 1. The Beatles The Beatles have tallied the most No. 1 hits with 20 and the most No. 1 albums with 19. 2. The Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones have nine No. 1 albums and eight No. 1 singles. 3. Elton John Elton John has topped the Hot 100 nine times and the 'Billboard' 200 seven times. 4. Mariah Carey Mariah Carey has 18 No. 1 singles, the most by a solo artist, along with six No. 1 albums. 5. Madonna Madonna has topped the singles chart 12 times and has nine No. 1 albums. Rounding out the top ten artists of all time were Barbra Streisand at No. 6, Michael Jackson at No. 7. Taylor Swift at No. 8, Stevie Wonder at No. 9 and Chicago at No. 10.
