The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) under Sourav Ganguly is intended to take the T20 revolution a step ahead by introducing the Power Player and this could come into effect from IPL 2020, and this could render the concept of Playing XI meaningless. If all goes according to the plan, the IPL teams will be allowed to substitute a player at the fall of a wicket or at the end of an over at any point in the game.
