S. Korea to remove 'atopy' label from all functional cosmetics by next year

South Korea will remove the label of (ah-top-pee) 'atopy' on all functional cosmetics.
The measure comes as concerns rise within academic circles that consumers rely on such cosmetics and allow their symptoms to deteriorate by not seeking medical treatment.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said on Wednesday that it plans to notice the amendment of the cosmetics law enforcement in November, and implement the law next year.
Labels regarding the treatment of hair loss and acne will still be allowed.
The new legislation includes adding whitening, wrinkle improvement, sun protection, mitigating hair loss, acne skin improvement, and moisturizing (ahh-top-pic) atopic skin to functional cosmetics.
