Concerns are growing over of a harmful chemical found in receipt paper in South Korea.
A lawmaker with the Environment and Labor Committee, citing a recent government study, said high levels of the hormone-disrupting chemical BPA were found in nearly half of the samples tested.
BPA is used on receipt paper for their stability and high heat resistance.
The lawmaker said the samples contained more than 60 times the recommended amount set by the EU.
Currently there are no safety standards regarding BPA, which the lawmaker said needs to be changed.
