S. Korean navy running task force to secure nuclear-powered submarines
  • 4 years ago
The South Korean navy is running a task force to secure nuclear-powered submarines.
Part of efforts to bolster self-defense capabilities... as these vessels can carry out operations underwater for a longer period of time diesel subs.
During a parliamentary annual audit, the Navy also did point out the task force is currently focused on collecting intel and is working closely with the defense ministry and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to push for related projects in earnest.
The Navy also emphasized the nation must create its own nuclear subs or bring in French Barracuda-class submarines... to better cope with rising North Korean provocations involving SLBMs.
