Right Mark, what the world saw on Tuesday marked a dramatic escalation in violence with severe unrest to multiple areas of Hong Kong.
Police said an 18-year-old student was shot in the shoulder in the New Territories with a live round.
Even after a surgery, the teen activist is still in critical condition.
Police have thrown bean bags and fired live rounds into the air,...but this is the first time a protester has been hit by live ammunition during the four months of increasing chaotic demonstrations.
Describing the protesters as "rioters," Hong Kong police chief Stephen Lo said the firing of live rounds was "lawful and reasonable."
The young activist was just one of the 51 people who were injured on Tuesday night.
Tens of thousands marched through streets of Hong Kong, including in Causeway Bay towards government headquarters in Admiralty.
Districts across the semi-autonomous city quickly turned into battlefields,...as police fired tear gas in at least 6 locations and used water cannons.
Anti-China sentiment was stronger than ever,...with protesters chanting "Freedom for Hong Kong" and even burning portraits of Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
Over 180 demonstrators were arrested, the most in a single day since the unrest began in June.
