Unification Ministry: Food aid to N. Korea unlikely to be delivered
  • 5 years ago
South Korean food aid to North Korea is likely to be delayed,... missing its original schedule of delivering shipments by the end of this month.
Seoul's unification ministry said today that its plan to ship 50-thousand tons of rice to the North via the World Food Programme has run into obstacles... due to communication issues between Pyeongyang and the WFP.
North Korea has reportedly turned down the aid offer in protest of the recent joint military drills between South Korea and the U.S.
The ministry is still waiting for an official response from Pyeongyang regarding the aid plan.
