Ex-envoy questions PH-US enhanced defense agreement

Former Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Nelson Laviña said an enhanced defense cooperation with the US may do more harm than good in the Philippine-China territorial dispute. Laviña said the Philippines may be giving up too much for the US in the new agreement even without the certainty that the deal will improve national security. She also called on the respective Congresses of the Philippines and the US to scrutinize the agreement which should be considered a treaty. Mornings @ ANC, April 4, 2014
