Model dies after falling off Ortigas building

MANILA – A woman died after falling off a Renaissance Tower 1000 in Ortigas, Pasig City before dawn on Thursday. The woman, identified as Helena Belmonte, fell off the building's 28th floor and landed on an air-conditioning unit exhaust vent at the 7th floor at around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. Belmonte, reportedly a model, was inside a unit in the building with his boyfriend and friends when the incident occurred. Belmonte's boyfriend and friends said they thought that the model was just sleeping. However, when they went to check the victim in the bedroom, she was already gone. A suicide note supposedly from Belmonte was recovered. The model allegedly had some drinks before the incident. The model's boyfriend said he and Belmonte had a fight recently, but they were able to patch things up.
